The impacts of the Fair Workplace Legislation has been significant on all forms of businesses, but particularly those in the restaurant an hospitality industry. Learn more from Restaurants Canada and CFIB about how this legislation is effecting the restaurant industry and what to do about it.   

In addition to this legislation, learn more about the changes being made next to what is considered "part-time equivalent" employees. This event is open to all but geared specifically towards restaurant owners and managers.


James Rilett is the Vice President, Central Canada for Restaurants Canada which represents foodservice providers of all sizes and concepts.
Growing up working in a family-run small retail business, James used those experiences during his 17 years working in senior positions at the Ontario Government. He has spent the last five years at Restaurants Canada (formerly CRFA) advocating for the industry with government and business.
James and his family live in Thornhill where he is active in the community with Scouts Canada.

Ryan Mallough is the Senior Policy Analyst, Ontario, with the Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB).
Ryan has been with CFIB for three years, beginning in communications before transitioning to the legislative and policy side of the organization. His key files focus on Bill 148, energy and the cannabis legalization framework. He has a bachelor's in political science from the University of Ottawa and a master's in journalism from Western University.
